Your first nine-figure pet
The Lava Dragon is the eternal of the Volcano biome, a red, flapping, lizard-like dragon. One creator wasn't impressed by the looks ("It looks so much like a lizard. I don't know, man. It don't look like a dragon to me. And I know what a dragon looks like"), but nobody complains about the income. For most players it's the first pet that makes over $100 million per second.

A hatch-every-egg run accidentally opened a big one early ("Oh, accidentally hatched the big one. Oh, let's go! Another dragon") and got $223M, instantly the best pet in the pen.
How to get it
The Lava Dragon spawns in the Volcano (700K speed sign), guarded by the three-headed Cerberus. At the sign value you can take small eggs. One player with 575K got a small egg out of the biome and shook Cerberus by running sideways. With 5.2M speed, double the guardian, a creator said Cerberus "can't catch me".
The egg takes 5 hours to grow. Plant it before night falls.
Mutating it
The Lava Dragon multiplies like everything else (Rainbow took a $100M copy to $350M, about 3.5x), and "it's flapping around insanely" in rainbow. In the mid-game it's often your heaviest egg, which makes it a reasonable Scrambled target if a lab week is on. Later, save potions for divines.
How long it lasts
A Lava Dragon carries you through the Volcano and Abyss Ocean stages, and often into the Prehistoric. Once Mosasauruses and El Majas arrive, it drops off. Most players keep one in the pen until about the Cosmic biome, then sell it.
Lava Dragon vs El Maja
The Abyss Ocean eternal, El Maja, makes $130M base against the Lava Dragon's $100M, and mutates to $455M rainbow against $350M. They're close, and the El Maja is a bit stronger, but the Lava Dragon is easier to reach (700K vs 2.5M speed).
Where it sits
C tier in the overall list, purely because Steal an Egg's late game is so much bigger. As a mid-game pet, it's excellent, and the cheapest route to a nine-figure income.
Lava Dragon FAQ
Is the Lava Dragon worth hatching with Robux? The 5-hour timer is short for an eternal. Planting it at night is usually enough, so save Robux for longer timers.
Can I get it without 700K speed? Small eggs have been taken at 575K with sideways running. Big eggs need more.
Does it count toward a badge? Yes. If it's your first eternal, hatching it awards the Hatched Eternal badge.
Is the Lava Dragon a good Fuse Machine target? Only with spares. Three mid-size Lava Dragons can reroll into one bigger egg, but most fuses come out smaller.
