The first real wall

The Prehistoric biome sits behind an 18 million speed sign (one sign read 17M in an older version) and is guarded by a T-Rex that roars loudly enough to make creators flinch. It's the first true wall in Steal an Egg: the jump from the Abyss Ocean's 2.5M is about 7x, and the T-Rex punishes anyone who thinks "just over the sign" is enough.

How the T-Rex behaves

The T-Rex is fast and pushes you back when it catches you. Real experiences from the runs we watched:

  • At 18.1M speed, just over the sign, one creator failed repeatedly on a big egg: "Surely I can grab this big egg… What?" They wondered if jumping made a difference.
  • At 50M they were still getting caught on big eggs: "How is this dude keep destroying me when I've got 50 million speed?"
  • At about 70M, with a 3x trail and max multipliers, they finally carried a big one home: "I think I finally got enough speed to get away from him."
  • A different player juked the T-Rex with only 2.7M speed by zigzagging with a small egg: "I legit didn't think this was going to work."

The takeaway: small Prehistoric eggs are fine at 18M. Big ones need several times the sign, or a trick.

The Prehistoric egg pool

  • Brontosaurus: the most common egg ("I've seen this egg so many times"). Big ones reach 249,000 kg.
  • Dodo: mythic, about $100K. "Duck thing" according to one confused creator.
  • Ankylosaurus: about $112K.
  • Pterodactyl: the legendary.
  • T-Rex: the secret, announced as "a secret T-Rex spawned in the prehistoric".
  • Mosasaurus: the best egg, from the "monstrous" egg, $139–180M base.

The Mosasaurus

The Mosasaurus is the Prehistoric anchor pet, a sea reptile with a 6-hour timer. Readings:

Copy Income
Average $139M
Basic (creator test) $180M
24,000 kg $159M
Golden $450M
Rainbow $630M
Massive server-reset find $2.3B

Eternal Mosasaurus eggs also appear in rifts. One night a rift spawned "an eternal Mosasaurus egg", alongside a secret.

Mosasauruses are also popular Fuse Machine fodder because they're common: three small ones can roll into a bigger one, though most fuses came out "kind of midsize".

Why the Prehistoric matters so much

Two reasons. First, the Mosasaurus is the first pet that lets a mid-game account cross a billion per second with a mutation or a big egg. Second, the next biome, Cosmic, needs 700 million speed, nearly 40x the Prehistoric sign. You'll spend a long time here, so the income you build in the Prehistoric is what pays for the Lucky Block treadmill ($75B) and Galaxy trail that get you through.

One server-hop player used their Mosasaurus as a benchmark: "We have stuff from the prehistoric area forward… meaning anything here forward is good enough to try resetting servers for."

Tips

  • Overshoot the sign before going for big eggs (50–70M+).
  • Steal while the T-Rex is busy. "Since the dinosaur is busy on me, the other guy should be able to take out the prehistoric area."
  • Watch for rifts at night for eternal Mosasauruses.
  • Admin Abuse's T-Rex mini game is a different thing: dodge waves of T-Rexes for a prize egg.
